The Wild Side Project

The Friends of the Wild Side is a group of local residents committed to the protection and conservation of the north shore of Malcolm Island and the adjacent waters, through research, monitoring and education.

The Friends of the Wild Side are committed to the historic local vision of preserving the unique nature of the undeveloped wild side of the Island and the adjacent waters, while ensuring local collaboration regarding any proposed activities that may take place there.

The Wild Side Project Goals:

• To build a land-based viewing platform with interpretative signs and provide an on-site monitor to educate the puplic and monitor the interaction between Orcas, wildlife and visitors.

• Protect the rest of the north side/wild side of Malcolm Island by educating the community on the importance of keeping the Wild Side a safe habitat for wild life.

• Focus on Bere Point becoming an educational area by providing educational and research opportunities to youth groups, students and scientists.
